What is Pupil Premuim?
"The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support… pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
The Government believes that head teachers and school leaders should decide how to use the Pupil Premium. They are held accountable for the decisions they make…"

We evaluate the impact of how we have spent the Pupil Premium Grant at the end of each academic year. At this time we will also plan how intend to spend the Pupil Premium Grant for the following academic year. In March we will complete an interim review of the impact of the Pupil Premium Grant at that point in time.
Olympic Legacy Sport Premium Funding
Wisbech St Mary CE Academy
Funding to be received: £17,790
Background:
In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision. The funding is for the period September 2019 - July 2020. This funding is ring fenced to be used for sport specific areas to make an impact in Physical Education and Sport in schools.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
During the academic year September 2021 to July 2022 we plan to spend our funding in the following areas:
Purchasing outdoor equipment to support outdoor learning at forest school.
Funding pool hire for swimming lessons for pupils (including a qualified lifeguard)
Offering a wider range of after school sporting activities and travel to and from competitive sporting activities through the Witchford partnership.
Professional development for teachers and teaching assistants to support and develop their subject knowledge.
Swimming
Despite missing swimming due to COVID, last year, 79% of the children have made the expected 25m+ swimming target by the end of year 6.
