Godfrey Class - Year 1

Godfrey Class

Year 1

Welcome to Year 1 Class Page!

Our ethos within Year 1 is to promote a love of independent learning. The indoor and outdoor environments are carefully planned and richly resourced to allow for curriculum coverage to be achieved through a provision based approach and purposeful experiences. We aim to build upon the characteristics of effective learning which underpin the EYFS and provide our children with opportunities to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. Supporting adults have a deep understanding of how to ensure children's experiences are developmentally appropriate and ensure learning is advanced by the use of careful interactions and open ended questioning.

Please see the curriculum overview attached for more details of what we will learning throughout this term.

2024-2025 SPRING

Welcome to Godfrey Class!

This term at Godfrey, we are embarking on an incredible learning journey! In maths, we’ll explore everything from place value to fractions, alongside discovering geometry and measurement. Our English adventures will take us into lively debates, thrilling tales, and persuasive letters, all inspired by characters like Jack and the Wolf. In history, we’ll uncover the fascinating stories of Kings, Queens, and leaders, from the Magna Carta to the Commonwealth. Geography lessons will open the doors to the unique landscapes and histories of the UK’s four nations, while science will delve into weather patterns, seasons, and ways to protect our planet. Through art, we’ll draw inspiration from iconic architecture and famous artists, and in D&T, bring imagination to life with animal sock puppets. Whether it’s gymnastics, programming, or music inspired by animals, this term promises a rich and exciting blend of creativity, discovery, and fun!

For more information, please see our curriculum overview.

We can't wait for a fun term ahead!
