2025-2026 SUMMER TERM

Get ready for another exciting term of learning adventures in Year 2!

In English, we’ll become imaginative writers as we create suspense stories, take our readers on exciting journey tales, and use our voices to write persuasive pieces. In Maths, we’ll continue to build our confidence with multiplication and division, while also exploring fractions, money, time, and measures.

In History, we’ll be inspired by Powerful Voices, learning about incredible individuals such as Gandhi, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai and Greta Thunberg, and how they helped to change the world. In Geography, we’ll travel to Northern Europe, exploring countries, climates, landscapes, and even the animals that live there.

Science will spark curiosity as we investigate materials and their uses, explore how things change, and then look up to the skies as we learn about space, the solar system, and the phases of the moon. In RE, we’ll explore Judaism and Islam, learning about important beliefs and how people show their faith.

Through PSHE, we’ll focus on healthy lifestyles, understanding how to take care of our bodies, before moving on to learning about growing and changing, and how to stay safe. Our creativity will shine in Art as we explore myths like Theseus and the Minotaur, before moving on to landscapes, symmetry, and even creating our own class mural. In Music, we’ll listen, appraise, and perform together in our ‘Bringing Us Together’ and ‘Reflect, Rewind, Replay’ units. We’ll also develop our computing skills, design moving pictures in DT, and stay active in PE with athletics, games, cricket, and teamwork challenges.

For a more detailed overview of the exciting topics your child will be learning about this term, please take a moment to browse our curriculum guide.

Don’t forget to download the summer term homework menu, which outlines the various homework tasks your child can choose from, alongside regular reading practice.

It’s going to be a term full of inspiration, creativity, and discovery – we can’t wait to get started!
