2025-2026 SPRING TERM

Get ready for an amazing term of learning adventures in Year 2! In English, we’ll become storytellers as we write losing tales, create fables with important lessons, and even become reporters writing our own news reports. In Maths, we’ll explore multiplication and division.

In History, we’ll travel back in time to the Tudor period, meeting the famous Henry VIII and his queens, discovering life in Tudor England, and learning about the powerful reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Then we’ll journey across the British Isles, exploring England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, and even comparing life here to faraway Cape Town!

Science will be full of discovery as we light up our learning with electricity, build circuits, and test materials, before turning to the wonderful world of plants, seeds, and how food grows. In RE, we’ll explore the good news Jesus brings and find out why Easter matters to Christians.

Through PSHE, we’ll learn how to be kind and respectful in our anti-bullying work, understand money and spending, and discover how to stay safe in different situations. Our creativity will shine in Art as we create portraits inspired by Picasso, paint landscapes like Turner and Constable, and explore symmetry in nature. In Music, we’ll listen, appraise, and perform songs in exciting units like ‘Three Little Birds’ and ‘The Dragon Song’. Plus, we’ll develop computing skills using Microsoft Word, practise sewing in DT, and stay active in PE with gymnastics, basketball, cricket, and football.

For a more detailed overview of the exciting topics your child will be learning about this term, please take a moment to browse our curriculum guide.

Don’t forget to download the spring term homework menu, which outlines the various homework tasks your child can choose from, in addition to regular reading practice.

It’s going to be a term full of creativity, discovery, and fun – we can’t wait to get started!
