2024-2025 SUMMER
Welcome to Year 2 - Summer Term!
Dear Parents and Visitors,
Welcome to the Summer Term in Year 2!
This term, our learning journey continues with a wide range of exciting topics. In English, children will explore suspense stories and journey tales, while also learning how to write clear and engaging explanations. Maths lessons will focus on multiplication, division, money, time, and geometry, helping to build confidence in applying these skills in everyday situations.
Our history theme, Powerful Voices, will introduce children to inspiring figures such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Malala Yousafzai, and Greta Thunberg, encouraging thoughtful discussions on fairness, courage, and making a difference. In geography, we’ll be exploring the wonders of Northern Europe - its landscapes, climate, and animal life.
Science will bring learning to life as we investigate habitats and food chains, and later explore plants, seeds, and how food is grown. Children will also enjoy creative experiences in music and art, from composing stormy sea soundscapes to exploring famous murals and creating their own.
We’re looking forward to a term full of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. As always, thank you for your continued support.
Warm wishes,
The Wisbech St. Mary Year 2 Team
