2025-2026 AUTUMN TERM
Welcome to your first term in Mowbray Class!
We’re excited to have you with us as we embark on an inspiring journey of learning and discovery.
This term, our curriculum is bursting with exciting learning opportunities across a wide range of subjects. In English, the children will explore narrative writing through warning tales and journey stories, as well as creating non-chronological reports and writing clear instructions. In Maths, the focus will be on shapes, numbers to 100, and developing fluency in addition and subtraction, including work with 2-digit numbers. Our history topic looks at The Romans in Britain, including the Roman Army, the invasion, towns, and the lasting changes they made. In Geography, children will develop spatial sense through mapping their school site, local area, and identifying places on a globe. Science covers two strands: The Human Body (including skeletons, muscles, digestion, and healthy living) and Living Things and Their Environments (with a focus on habitats such as rainforests, meadows, and deserts). In RE, children will explore Christian beliefs about Creation, what God is like, and the importance of Christmas. PSHE will support children in developing teamwork, managing emotions, and understanding rights, rules, and responsibilities. In Music, children will learn songs and play the glockenspiel, while in Computing they will develop basic computer skills and learn about e-safety. In Art and DT, children will experiment with colour, shape, texture, and sculpture, as well as exploring food technology. Finally, in PE, children will enjoy Forest School, games skills, tag rugby, and hockey.
For a more detailed overview of the exciting knowledge your child will be gaining this term, please take a look at our curriculum guide. Also, don't forget to download the homework menu, which outlines the various homework tasks your child can choose from this term, in addition to their regular reading.
We’re looking forward to a fun-filled, enriching term ahead!
